An invitation card is often the first thing guests see of your event. A clear, complete card saves you many phone calls. Use this checklist before you send anything to print.
The must‑haves
- Who is inviting (the families, the church, the school or the company).
- What the event is: wedding, engagement, thanksgiving, funeral and burial service, birthday, launch or graduation.
- Names spelt exactly as the family wants them, including titles.
- Day, date and time: write both the day and the date, for example "Saturday, 12th December 2026, 10:00 am".
- Venue with a landmark people know, and if possible a GhanaPost GPS digital address so guests can find it easily.
Helpful extras
- Dress code or colours (for example "Black and red", "Kente", "All white").
- RSVP names and phone numbers, and a reply date.
- Programme order if there are several parts (church service, reception).
- Parking or directions for busy venues.
- A QR code that opens the location on Google Maps.
Printed or digital?
Many families now send a digital invitation on WhatsApp (best at 1080×1920 pixels for Status, or 1080×1350 for chats) and print a smaller number of cards for elders and special guests. Ask your designer to prepare both from the same design.
Proofreading: the step people skip
- Ask two people who know the family to read every name.
- Check that the date matches the day of the week on a calendar.
- Call each RSVP number to test it.
- Read the card out loud, slowly.
How many to print
Count your guest list, then add about 10% for last‑minute guests and replacements.
We design printed and digital invitation cards. Send us your event details and we will prepare a draft.
